Borja Gutierrez

Customer Journey Expert

User-friendly justice is a basic building block for sustainable and just societies. I am inspired by the incredible women and men we work with across the world who are passionately dedicated to improving people’s justice journeys.

Originally from Spain, Borja spent most of his early years in the Netherlands, where he eventually graduated from Utrecht University with honors in Social Sciences. In 2007, he obtained a Master Degree in Development Studies from the University of Sydney and consequently moved to Beijing to study Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University. Being offered a job as a Software Testing Engineer for Microsoft’s Windows 7, he expanded his stay in China which he would call home for 8 years.

Prior to joining HiiL, Borja has managed a variety of different projects supporting sustainable development in Asia, Africa and Latin America. As a Senior Project Manager at Free the Children, he managed community development programs in micro-finance, education, health and agriculture across the greater China region. Borja also developed and led the Emerging Markets and Finance division at Solarplaza, which promotes sustainable development by connecting investors renewable energy developers.
